2006 Independent Horizon Films

No matter who you are or where you’re from, everyone can relate to a good story. What’s more, we’re sure all of you can, in some respect or another, connect a few of your life events, no matter how meaningful or insignificant, to films and the stories they tell.

For instance: How many people have a memory of that kid in elementary school trying to use the “crane kick” in a fight on the playground? Yeah, he got his ass kicked, but if only for a moment, it sure looked cool. Then there was the time your buddy, to your amazement, climbed out to the highest point of the roof and repeatedly screamed “I’m king of the world!”

Sure, he was slightly inebriated and the really amazing thing was that he didn’t fall to his death, but you have to admit, it was undeniably funny! Or remember when you swaggered around the living room and belted out a couple of lines from “You’ve Lost That Loving Feeling” as your girlfriend sat on the couch fuming because your memory isn’t as good as you thought it was. But seriously, in the grand scheme of things, are one year anniversaries really that important?

Getting to the point here…where do these idiotic and humorous things we do come form. Well, the preceding examples may not be your memories and/or actions, but we know you have similar ones and we think you get the point. There’s just something captivating about movies. Films and stories inspire us. Whether they are fascinating, mind boggling, comforting or heart wrenching, we love movies because of the way they make us feel. If a film is truly good, that is…good in your eyes, good to you…it’s more often than not because we identify with the characters we see up on the screen and often times, we cast ourselves in their roles, wondering what it would be like If that was me. In other words:

“No form of art goes beyond ordinary consciousness as film does, straight to our emotions, deep into the twilight of the soul.” ~ Ingrid Bergman

For us at IHF, movies aren't just captivating; It’s how we view life. Not necessarily what we are looking at, but more or less how we see it. No matter the level at which it manifests itself, we're all in some inexplicable way connected to the world of film. We each have our own unique and diverse tastes, but it's the undeniable power of the images on a screen, and the emotions they convey, that bonds us.

This is why and this is how Independent Horizon Films came to be. All we’re trying to do is what every writer and every director has before us…tell our stories….from our point of view.
